PM appreciates ICAR exhibits during 65th Plenary Celebration of North Eastern Council (NEC)

 

During the inaugural programme of 65th NEC Plenary held on 27th May, 2016 at Polo Ground, Shillong, Meghalaya; Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited the Agricultural Exhibition organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya accompanied by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) & Chairman, NEC along with members of the NEC, Secretary, DoNER and Secretary, NEC. The exhibition was arranged under the auspices of Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India to showcase the innovative technologies relevant for the development of agricultural sector in NEH region with the participation of eleven ICAR research institutes in North Eastern Region that include six regional research stations of different research institutes in addition to six regional centers spreading over the region. Appreciating the impressive display of the exhibition, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with Dr. S.V. Ngachan, Director, ICAR RC for NEH Region and Dr. A. K. Tripathi, Head, Division of Social Sciences, ICAR RC for NEH Region regarding the rich bio-diversity of NEH region. Besides, he showed keen interest on organic farming and traditional crops of NEH region such as Dragon fruit of Mizoram while making a short visit in the exhibition stall.
